Destination wedding photography and wedding cinematography in Ibiza made with love
We were super exited to go back to Ibiza for our next destination wedding photography and wedding cinematography project. It was a pleasure to be a part of Nicola and Ben’s romantic beach wedding in Cala Vadella, Ibiza. Our wedding photography session spiced up with wedding cinematography started in a Spanish villa, where the preparations took place. Nicola and Ben were enjoying the company of their lovely family members by the pool with their two little girls and all their friends. These were great moments to capture candid portraits of the wedding guests. Nicola was dressing up besides the pool with the help of her bridesmaids, hanging up the wedding dress on a nearby palm tree with the lovely wedding shoes under it – maybe she already knew that this was going to be a perfect detail for us to capture on film.
Creative session with an old-timer by the sea
After dressing up, we followed the couple’s old-timer and had an amazing creative photography session at several gorgeous places in Ibiza. We were standing on tall rocks by the sea, in front of an abyss at the end of the island, and had a great creative session using the old-timer car as an excellent accessory in the photo settings.
Ceremony in blue flip-flops and yellow sunglasses in Cala Vadella
The ceremony was directly on the beach of the picturesque Cala Vadella. The ceremony was really on the beach, which means we were only a few meters away from people sunbathing and enjoying the wedding ceremony at the same time. The atmosphere was super cool with blue flip-flops and yellow sunglasses on all guests which they picked up at the entrance of the beach. Later, during the Spanish evening the Hot Ice Ibiza band elevated the mood with fresh, local, original music: the family members and friends had a great party under the stars, hey will surely never forget this wonderful event.
A robbery that changed everything
There is one more painful reason why this wedding is an everlasting memory: we got robbed at a famous venue of Ibiza, while we were looking for some nice spots for the creative photography session with our couple. We lost most of our wedding film and wedding photo equipment. It was one of the most terrible moments in our life, I personally thought that we are out of business for good. My experience of being a wedding photographer and wedding filmmaker for 25 years with 270 weddings, plus the love of the Universe and our couple made it possible, that we could shoot next day, only with our remaining equipment: one camera, one lens and a GoPro were the only gear left to do the wedding photography and the wedding film with. At moments like this, I feel we are all in the hands of a super strong force, and I think that eventually all lessons are pointing towards a common goal which is to fully understand and be aware of what we are capable of. As crazy as it sounds, since this wedding, my whole life has changed for the better. I learned that material things come and go, but your body and spirit are here to stay until the very end. These are the things that will keep you high, healthy and happy, not the latest gadgets in the photo bag.
